Paul E. Wells

October 18, 1929 — September 23, 2018

The world lost a unique man when Paul Eugene Wells died on 23 September 2018 at the Veteran's home in Pocatello, Idaho. Paul was born on 18 October 1929 in Greencastle, Missouri to Daisy Mae McFarland and Charles Edward Wells.

Paul served proudly in the US Navy and was discharged from the service while in Utah. He came to Pocatello where he was set up on a blind date with a local beauty, Loral Bowden. Loral and Paul were married in Pocatello on 21 April 1951. The first five of their eight children, David Paul, LaWana, Regie, Shawna, and Marinda were born in Pocatello. The family moved around a little after that, following jobs where Paul operated heavy equipment. Keith was born in Moab, Utah. Back in Pocatello, Cherie and Danny completed the family tree.

Paul ran the LDS West Stake farm for several years. After moving to Aberdeen and American Falls Paul worked for local farmers. Always a hard worker, Paul never refused a job that might discourage others. He always wanted to provide for his family. While he was not a man who demonstrated his emotions vocally or physically, his family knew he loved them. Even the great-great nieces and nephews knew Uncle Paul loved them. They were always offered treats when they visited Uncle Paul and Aunt Loral's home.

After retiring Paul and Loral moved back to Pocatello. Paul was never shy about sharing his opinion with people. Other people were entitled to their opinion, but it only mattered if it was the same as Paul's!
The morning Paul died, as Loral held his lifeless hand lovingly in hers she said quietly to her friend and life partner, "It was a long, hard journey." The trials and difficulties were many, but love for family and a strong will got Paul to the end of his earthly journey.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters, Shawna and Cherie, and son, Keith. He is survived by Loral and five kids, as well as a large extended family and many friends.

There will be a viewing for Paul on Thursday, Sept 27th, from 3:00-4:00pm at the Wilks Funeral Home in Chubbuck, Id. A graveside service will be held the following day, Friday, Sept 28 at 3pm in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
