POCATELLO - Paul Devenberg, 79, of Pocatello, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at a local hospital. He was born on March 13, 1932, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Bert and Phyllis Devenberg. He enjoyed playing baseball at Pocatello High School, but before he graduated he enlisted in the US Navy. Paul married Patricia Carroll Miller on August 15, 1953 in Pocatello. Together they had 7 children, Mike, Dan, Jeff, Bart, Eric, Robert, and Sandra. Paul was a career military man spending 22 years in the US Navy, spanning both the Vietnam and Korean War. After his military career ended he continued to serve the country as a civilian at North Island Naval Station for Naval Air Reward Facility (NARF). He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as a member of the Fleet Reserve. Paul of a collector of die cast Ford replicas. He loved old westerns on TV and military history, but he loved his family most of all. He was proud that he had 1 son and a grandson serve in the military. His son Mike served in the US Navy and grandson Jason Paul Devenberg is currently active duty in the US Army stationed in Bahrain, Iran. He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Mike Devenberg of Pocatello, son Daniel Devenberg of Pocatello, son Jeffery (Trish) Devenberg of La Mesa, CA, son Bart Devenberg of El Cajon, CA, son Robert Devenberg of West Linn, OR, daughter Sandra Devenberg of El Cajon, CA, sister Maryann Kelly of Salt Lake City, sister Pam (Dave) Brown of Pocatello, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eric, sister Diana Zahm, and brother Robert Devenberg. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow services at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
