Patricia Ann Targett Hardesty, 79, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was born on September 26, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Archie and Bernice Hatfield. She lived in Indianapolis most of her life, graduating from Mooresville High School in 1957. In 1972 she moved to California; living there for 36 years. In 2008 she moved to Idaho where she resided until her death. Patricia married Gene Targett on July 7, 1957, together, they had 5 children. After Gene passed away, she married John Hardesty on December 30, 1981. John passed away on February 4, 2010. Patricia worked at Columbia Records in the mid-60s to the late 60s in Indiana. She then worked at Lancaster Beauty School in California in the late 80s. Patricia joined with the Fraternal of Eagles #2985 in Antelope Valley (Lancaster) CA in 1980. She was installed as Madam Vice President in August 1980. She stepped up to Madam President, served her year as Junior Past Madam President, then went on to serve a year as Madam Conductor. She ran unopposed for Madam Secretary in June 1986. She was Madam Secretary for 14 years. Patricia was picked up by the State Nominating Committee in 1991 and ran unopposed as State Madam Outside Guard. In 1992 she was elected as State Madam Inside Guard. In 1994 she was elected State Madam Outside Guard for her second term. She was State Madam Trustee in 1995, 1996 and 1997. In 1998 she was succeeded to the chair of State Madam Chaplain, then she stepped up to State Madam Vice President. To start out the new Millennium, she stepped up to State Madam President in 2000. On the state level, she has chaired the Cancer Fund, Delinquent Chairman, Alzheimers State Project and re-enrollment twice. Patricia enjoyed being with her Eagle friends and she had a strong belief in the charities she worked for. She promoted Eagledom wherever she traveled to. Patricia loved doing her crossword puzzles and she loved being with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Patricia is survived by her son, Jerry (Cindy) Targett, Pocatello, ID, son, Chris Targett, Pocatello, ID, daughter, Peggy (David) Clark, Las Vegas, NV, daughter, Kathy Shields, Brazil, IN, son, Danny Hardesty, Carbon, IN, daughter, Amanda Hardesty; and brother, Tom (Jean) Hatfield, Coatsville, IN; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Woodard Targett; second husband, John Hardesty; son, Ricky Targett; daughter, Sandra Steed; father, Archie Hatfield; mother, Bernice Hatfield; sisters, Joann Logan, Virginia Davis and Iris Curtis. As per her request, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
