POCATELLO- Paddy Joe Downs, 80 passed away peacefully at his home May 3, 2012 due to complications of a stroke. Paddy was born March 15, 1932 in Wheeler, Texas to Vivian and D.F. Downs. He grew up in Texas and was drafted into the Army. He always had a great love for his country. He served during the Korean conflict and was awarded a bronze star and a purple heart. He served honorably from October 1952 and was discharged in October 1954. Paddy married the love of his life Delorace May Keane on January 10, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they had a son, Bobby Joe Downs, and a step-daughter Donna Keane. He worked many years for the UPRR from 1966 until his retirement in the late 1980's, where he retired from the Signal Maintenance Department. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and especially camping and riding four wheelers. Paddy was a cowboy and loved his boots, hat, western movies, war movies, and last but not least, John Wayne! He is survived by his wife Delorace Downs, Pocatello, Son, Bobby Joe Downs, St. Anthony, Idaho, Daughter, Donna (Shane) Porter, Pocatello, Idaho, Brother, Dennie "Sonny" (Erma) Downs, Corpus Christi, Texas, three grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Lynn Downs, his parents, three sisters, and five brothers. Funeral services for Paddy will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4t Ave. Pocatello. Viewings will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the funeral home and an hour prior to the services. A military burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery following the services.
