Oscar C. Noreen

Oscar Clarence Noreen, 76, Of Pocatello, passed away January 3, 2016 at his home. Oscar was born October 8, 1939 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, son of Andrew Noreen and Estella Devenberg Noreen. Oscar attended Roosevelt, Whittier, Franklin Junior High and Pocatello High School. His father signed for him to enter the military early and he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1957-1960. He joined the Navy Sea Bees in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1978. Oscar married Joyce Lish in Pocatello Idaho on May 1, 1964. Together they had 2 children; Andrew and Tina. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple on June 16, 1973. He worked many jobs including a hod carrier for Guy Nielsen, heavy equipment oiler for J.R. Simplot Company, Cowboy Oil, and as a sanitation worker for Heinz Foods. In his spare time he loved to be with his grandson, Wyatt. He also loved watching military and western movies. He had many horses in his earlier years and loved to go hunting with them. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Oscar is survived by his wife, Joyce of 51 years; two children, Andrew Noreen, and Tina (Ken) Dressel; grandson, Wyatt Dressel; sisters, Alice Peck, and Nola (Dennis) Thomson; 6 sisters-in-law; and 5 brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 8 at 11 am at the LDS Century Ward Building, corner of 4th and Fredregill Rd. in Pocatello, Idaho. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, January 7, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500 and one hour prior to the services at the church. Military honors will follow at the Inkom Cemetery.
