On Sunday, August 9th, wife and mother, grandmother, great-mother, sister and friend passed away at the age of 84 from a recently diagnosed cancer.
Orpha was born in Malad, Idaho on April 14, 1931, to Ephraim G. and Ethel Sasser Hawkins. She was raised and educated in the Malad valley and graduated from Malad High School in 1949 and just recently attended her 66th year class reunion. At an early age, Orpha enjoyed parties, picnics and activities with family, which included aunts, uncles and cousins. After retirement, she enjoyed camping trips with her family. Family has always been the focus of her life. She loved life and her family was blessed with her enthusiasm for living. She taught by example.
On November 4, 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Waldron in the Idaho Falls Temple. They started their life together in Malad, but moved to Pocatello in 1950, where they raised their 6 children. Orpha worked at Idaho Bank and Trust for 22 years as a valued employee. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Thanksgiving dinner and yearly Christmas parties were always the highlight of the year for four generations of family.
Mom was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings over the years and devoted her life of service to fulfill her mission here on earth. Her service as Stake Relief Society President of the Pocatello North Stake was one her most blessed and enjoyable callings. The friendships she made with the sisters of the Stake were always dear to her. She and Lloyd served an Idaho Pocatello North Mission in 1996. She looked forward to monthly activities with Sunshine Sisters and her book club.
Orpha is survived by her eternal companion, Lloyd and her children, Randal of Inkom, Nancy (Larry) of McCammon, Steven (April) of Riverside, Jeffrey (Tamera) of Idaho Falls, Michael (Sandra) of Ammon, Karen (Val) Bradley of Logan, Utah, sisters, Helen (Hyrum) Peterson, Kathy (Larry) Taylor, sister-in-law, Pat (Delon) Hawkins. She has 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Delon Hawkins.
We would like to thank her many friends for the love they have shown our Mother. The family would like to thank Dr. Wise, Alliance Hospice, especially Mikel, Chasity and Alexandria.
Funeral services for Orpha will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13th at the Meadowbrook Ward Chapel, 300 E. Chapel Street. A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be held at the Malad City Cemetery.
