Orcella “Faye” Berry Butler died on September 29, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on September 1, 1935, to Margaret “LaVern” Holmes and Fredrick Steele Berry in Park City, Utah. Fred Berry died on May 30, 1941. LaVern and Faye moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Faye started elementary school. Lavern then met George Oscar Morse and they married on October 23, 1942. They gave Faye her first sister, Myralee Morse, on July 11, 1943. This new family moved to Provo, Utah, where LaVern gave birth to Faye’s sister, Maryann Morse. Faye finished elementary and middle school and started high school in Provo before the family moved to Pocatello in 1950, where she gained her sister, Linda May Morse, and brother, David Allen Morse. Faye enrolled at Pocatello High School where she treasured those who befriended her. She especially loved George Marcus Butler. They graduated with the class of 1953, married on January 29, 1954, raised their three children - Valerie Lynn, Kelly Kay, and Douglas Kent - and resided in Pocatello for the rest of their lives.
In addition to raising her children, Faye worked various jobs including at Albertson’s bakery, Montgomery Wards, Idaho State University’s police academy, and the Cinnamon Tree. She much enjoyed participating in her pinochle club, bowling teams, and brunch group. She always enjoyed getting together with friends. She explored various interests including sewing, crocheting, embroidery, ceramics, and painting. She read a broad range of papers, magazines, and books, and she loved movies.
Faye lost her husband, George, on August 10, 1997, but remained true to his memory and the home George built for his family. Faye was resolute to remain living in that house. Faye was also preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Lynn John, who died on February 5, 2023.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Kelly Kay Tobler who lives in Henderson, Nevada, with her husband Larry G. Tobler and near their children Ryan Michael Tobler and Jessica Noel Hoffman. Ryan is married to Yasuyo Urasaki, and they have two daughters, HanaLea and RinLey. Jessica is married to Ryan Hoffman and they have two daughters, Kennedy and Camryn and a son, Christopher. Faye’s son, Douglas Kent Butler, lives in Dallas, Texas. He has two children, Andrew Casey Butler and Chelsi Nichole Butler, both of whom live in the Los Angeles area. Faye adored all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Faye will be buried next to her husband in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. There will be a graveside memorial on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Faye was a gracious giver to charities and non-profit groups and would have encouraged everyone to support a charitable cause in lieu of flowers.
