Nykinzi Nichole Thomas

Nykinzi Nichole Thomas, 18, passed away on October 19, 2023.

Nykinzi was born on November 2, 2004, in Rexburg, Idaho to Nichole Gondola and David Thomas at 11:38 a.m. She came into this world as a fighter. Nichole had a difficult pregnancy that resulted in losing Nykinzi’s twin. From the moment she was born, she lit up any room she was in.

Nykinzi has six siblings whom she loved so dearly. She spent half of her life in Pocatello, Idaho and the other half in Firth, Idaho. During high school, Nykinzi participated in cheerleading. She also took photography classes. Nykinzi loved taking pictures. She could capture the beauty in everything she saw. Nykinzi loved music and she loved to dance.

She graduated from Firth High School in May 2023. She wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher, and she recently got a job working as a teacher’s aid at Ethel Boyes Elementary School. She was going to continue her education so she could achieve her dream.

Nykinzi loved her family deeply. She was a friend to all. She loved children and wanted to be a mom most of all.

Nykinzi met the love of her life, John Maher, and they started dating on April 21, 2021. They are true soul mates and planned on getting married later on down the road. They lived together in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

On October 19, 2023, she was in a tragic car accident in Idaho Falls. She is survived by her mother and bonus father, Nichole and Joey Gondola; father and bonus mother, David Thomas and Debbie Bogue; boyfriend, John Maher; siblings, Kamryn Thomas, Kaycee and Brylee Thomas, Brynnyn Thomas, Kambri Thomas, Jaydacee Maglio, and Nytiri Maglio; grandparents, Dee and Rosalie Wheeler, Jerry and Teresa Gondola, Rebecca and Ryan Lee, Pam and Charlie Bogue; great grandparents, Sandi Gondola, Marvin and Elaine Wheeler; aunts and uncles, Brittney and Josh Walters, Ashly Johnson, Britney and Levi Breen, Brandie an Tyler Palmer, Haily and Jordan Heer, Jordan and Samantha Gondola, Kaelan and James Wiese, Alexia Rodriguez, Alysa Rodriguez, Makayla Rodriquez, Camden Gondola, and many cousins.

Nykinzi is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Wilfred Rhoades, Lourna Hartley, and Grandpa David Byron Thomas.

Nykinzi’s Celebration of Life will be on October 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bannock County Veterans’ Memorial Building, 300 North Johnson Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho 83204.
