Norman Rupp

December 21, 1937 — October 21, 2023

Norman Alan Rupp, beloved father, grandfather, and husband to Sondra, passed away on October 21, 2023, at the age of 85, at his home in St. George, Utah, with loved ones surrounding him.

Born December 21, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho, Norm was the 5th child of Marvin A. Rupp and Edna Vera Hunt Rupp. Growing up, Norm faced some rough and tough times, but those experiences shaped him into the hardworking man he was throughout his life, especially in his job as a drywall contractor. He set the path for a lasting tradition of hard work by teaching his sons, sons-in-law, and many others the skill of construction work.

Norm married the love of his life, Sondra Lee Peterson on December 9, 1972, they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on September 3, 1976. Sondra was his beautiful bride until the day he passed.

Norm is survived by his wife, Sondra, and their shared children: Cheri Randall, Kip Rupp (Linda), Roger Rupp (Katrina), Linda Rupp, Stephanie Voran (Jeff), Tim Taysom, Jeff Taysom (Renee), 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, his sister, Carol Rupp Whitworth and brother, J. Blaine Rupp.

He is preceded in death by his 2 sons, Norman Alan and James Adam, parents, Marvin and Vera Rupp, granddaughter, Hether Cosgrove, and 5 brothers, Clarence, Danny, Grant, Dale, and Darell.

Norm had a testimony of our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ; he believed in eternal families. He served in many meaningful callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, two of his favorite callings were scout leader and executive secretary for Bishop Hancock. Norm and Sondra also served as service missionaries at the bishop's storehouse in St. George, Utah.

Norm was a great fisherman; he was always happiest with a boat full of kids and grandkids fishing. He made sure even his granddaughters knew how to put a worm on the hook and enjoy the satisfaction of reeling in their first fish. Golfing became a great passion of his that he enjoyed with his friends and his best golfing buddy, his brother Blaine, up until the month before he passed.

Norm's greatest joy was his family. He was the greatest Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, and Brother. He had love for everyone and made sure you felt it. Norm always challenged those he loved to be the best they could, and his love for them was always there no matter what.
