Norman Lee Harris Jr., of Tyhee, Idaho, passed away at the home he loved on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 surrounded by his wife and sons.
Norm was born on May 18, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ina "Ginger" and Norman L. Harris Sr.
Norm was a cowboy and rancher by heart and worked hard at doing what he loved – cowboying. At any given time of the day or night, or during any season whether it be summer or winter, Norm could be found working with a horse in the round corral, riding through the cows on the range, or traveling to parts of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, and all points in between just to help his ranching friends.
After Norm's injury in 2004, he met McLaena – "Mikey" - while in the hospital in Colorado. They formed a special bond and great friendship and when Norm returned to Idaho in 2005, she was not long to follow. They later married and were inseparable.
Norm loved the Fort Hall Indian Reservation and all the people on it. He was proud to be a reservation resident.
Norm is survived by his wife, Mikey, sons Sean (Lynnette) and Dave (Mary), grandchildren Treyton, BreAnn, Hadlee , and Bailey, as well as his many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Norman L. Harris, Sr., his mother Ginger Harris, and his brother Jack S. Harris.
Family will receive friends at a gathering in Norm's honor from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A short service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
