Nona Kaye Dahmer

d. June 9, 2015

Nona Kaye Dahmer, 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 09, 2015 in her home. She was born February 12, 1937 at Cambridge, Idaho to Percy Richardson Bybee and Olive Lurie Bloxham. On July 11, 1953, she married Boyd Kofoed Allen, in Bannock County where she resided throughout her life. She participated in musical festivals and pep club, at Marsh Valley High School. Nona enjoyed teaching 4-H and nutrition classes for Bannock County, and also fundraising for the Senior Center. After raising her children, she created her own business: TAY (The Amazing You) which brought joy to children, as she taught them about the dangers of illegal drugs. Other "Entertainment for Kids" business adventures she created and co-created with her sister were "Sophisticated Sal and Company" and "High Steppin Grannies". Nona was also a songwriter. Above all, she loved singing and playing musical instruments, side by side with her beloved sister Geri Barlow and other loved ones in "Sisters Two" throughout the community and on the Channel 12 Television Station, as they entertained individuals at fairs, family gatherings, malls, nursing homes, and the Senior Center. She was often admired for her sensitivity to the many "spiritual wonders" of life. Nona was loved by many. Nona is survived by her children, Jackie Lurie (Dan) Newsom, Sidney K. Allen, and Joyce B. (Kim) Hill; sister, Geri Barlow; six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Percy Vernal Bybee, sister, Sheila Faye Bernard and son, Stacy Boyd Allen. A "Celebration of Life" open house tribute for Nona, will be held at the Pocatello Senior Center, 427 N 6th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201 on Saturday, July 18, 2015, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500.
