Nicolas Kobi Akina

Nicolas Kobi Akina, 26, passed away on August 2, 2021 in Nampa, Idaho.

Nick was born on June 26, 1995 and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. He is the oldest of three children and Shawn and Steffanie’s first baby. Nick enjoyed football in high school and found many of his long term friends on the team. He attended Century High School, graduating in 2013.

Following high school, Nick joined the Army and served a tour in Afghanistan. Later, he moved to Boise to pursue new opportunities, grow his choice of career as a customer support manager, and create new relationships filled with love and hopes for the future.

Nick was formerly married to his first true love, Sierra Underwood, whom he continued to love and respect after their time together ended. He recently found a great love for golf. He also spent a lot of his free time reading philosophy and journaling.

Nick is survived by his parents Shawn and Steffanie Akina, brother Nathan Akina, sister Hannah Akina, grandparents Roy and Mary Akina, Joan Marshal, and Cline (Carolyn) Perkins, as well as his aunts and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his uncles Lance Akina and Mike Perkins.

Nick had found a deep sense of love and devotion to his family and friends, and we believe he was welcomed back to his heavenly home with his heart and arms open. The Akina family appreciates the overwhelming amount of support and sends their love to everyone.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1433 Gwen Drive Pocatello, Idaho 83204. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
