Naomi Wegner was born Naomi Jean Huff on the 23rd of August, 1934 to Irvin and Letha Huff in Twin Falls, Idaho. She passed away on April 7, 2017. She was 82 years young and had been a Pocatello resident since 1956.
Naomi met Frank Wegner in Twin Falls, Idaho and were married when they eloped to Pocatello, Idaho in August of 1951. Frank was in the Navy at that time so home was San Diego, California where they lived until Frank's tour of duty ended. They returned to Rockland, Idaho where they both worked on the Wegner family farm. Frank worked in the fields, and Naomi worked in the crew house preparing all the meals until Frank decided farming was not for him. They moved to Nampa, Idaho where Frank attended and received his barber's license.
Naomi and Frank had their oldest daughter, Teresa, while still working on the dry farm in Rockland, Idaho. Three years later they had a second daughter and named her Cydney, after her grandmother. The year was 1956, and Frank was barbering in the basement of the Whitman Hotel in Pocatello, Idaho.
Naomi was a homemaker during this time, and soon they added a son to their family and named him Charles (Chuck). When Chuck started school, Naomi launched her career outside the home. Her first job was as bookkeeper for SH Kresses, the Five and Dime store on Main Street. Naomi was presented with an opportunity to work for the Pocatello Railroad Credit Union where she worked as a teller for 5 years before being offered, and taking, a position as a loan officer. Naomi joined the Idaho State University Credit Union where she was a Loan Supervisor for 12 years before retiring.
Naomi and Frank loved to go camping and water skiing at Palisades Lake and this became their home for many summer weekends for many years. If they were not at Palisades water skiing, they were at Seagull Bay water skiing.
Naomi's next love and passion was going to the Oregon coast and traveling from Yachats to Lincoln City. She loved to sit with Frank and stare at the ocean for hours. Don't think they only stared at the ocean though. At age 78, her and Frank walked two to three miles on a path that paralleled the ocean!
Naomi had a deep faith and strong relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had the gift of prayer and over the years she prayed for God's love, protection and healing for a multitude of family and friends. If anyone ever asked Naomi to pray, you can be certain she prayed.
Funeral services for Naomi will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, with Pastor Dennis Cowell officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-8:00PM, Monday, April 10th at the funeral home. Her interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Recently when one of us was grieving over the loss of a loved one, Naomi shared this:
Grief never ends….but it changes.
It's a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…. It is the price of love.
We asked mom what we were going to do without her and she told us to "remember the good times."
Naomi was an incredible person. This unknown artist explains….
If there is happiness in my heart, it's because you helped put it there.
If there is gentleness in my beliefs, it's because you showed me how to care.
If there is understanding in my thinking, it's because you shared your wisdom.
If there is a rainbow over my shoulder, it's because of your outlook and your vision.
If there is a knowledge that I can reach out, and make some dreams come true,
It's because I learned from the best teacher of all . . . . . I learned from you.
We will love you forever.
