Nancy Claire Wilker Bailey passed away from complications of congestive heart failure and diabetes on February 14, 2023, at age 80 in Chubbuck Idaho.
Nancy was born on November 2, 1942 to Charles Roland Wilker and Sylvia Lysle Clinkscales Wilker in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the first of nine children and always took her role as the “big sister” very seriously.
She attended Roosevelt Elementary, Alameda Jr. High, and Pocatello High School. Later she received secretarial training at Idaho State University Trade and Tech School and worked at Garret’s Freightway in Pocatello.
Nancy served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Switzerland. When she returned home, she attended Brigham Young University for one year. She then moved to Salt Lake City, where she worked in a doctor’s office. In Salt Lake City, Nancy met Kenneth DeWayne Bailey at singles activities, and they married on December 19, 1975 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
The Baileys made their home in Sandy, Utah where they lived until Nancy moved to Chubbuck, Idaho to reside in Grace Assisted Living center in 2021. DeWayne had passed away in 2014.
Nancy and DeWayne liked sharing time with each other. A favorite wall hanging in their house proclaimed, “Of all the joys in a long and happy life, one of the greatest is the love between man and wife.” Nancy and DeWayne loved going camping and traveling in their camper/truck. They visited many National Parks all over the western United States. They loved the outdoors. They also enjoyed many outdoor concerts together. Nancy was an excellent hostess and had a large group of couple friends that got together yearly for New Year’s Eve and other dates. Nancy was really clever at crafts. She made and decorated her home with them and shared many with others. She also loved all holidays and made sure her home looked festive for each one.
Nancy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many varied positions and callings. She loved taking treats to the sisters she ministered to. She also had a beautiful soprano voice she shared through church.
A hard worker, Nancy worked at various jobs her whole life and ended her working career at age 70 as a customer representative at Stampin’ Up.
Nancy is survived by her siblings: Patricia Wilker, Susan Saucedo, David Wilker, Carla Richins, Sylvia Dieffenbach, Johnathan Wilker, Beverly Wilker, Joseph Wilker, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Nancy will be interred next to her beloved husband in Draper City Cemetery, Draper Utah, with a brief graveside service and dedication of the grave by her brother, Joseph Wilker. The family thanks the staff at Grace, who were so kind and helpful to her, and the staff at Quinn Meadows, who really ministered to her during her last two weeks.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the Tribute Wall tab above.
