Nancy Ann Smith Gilliam, 79, died Thursday (8/31/2023) in Pocatello ID. Born in Norfolk Nebraska (9/24/1943) to Otha William Smith and Mildred Agnes Shannon Smith.
Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Gilliam Nechamkin and Gregory, Garland Texas; son and daughter-in-law Christopher Gilliam and Amanda, Talent OR; grandchildren, Cody, Emily, Kaylee, and Nicolas Hamann and Aubrey Gilliam; sister Monica Smith Shannon, Hartland MI, and brother Roger Smith, Everett WA, along with many nephews and nieces as there were eight siblings in all.
Nancy had three passions in her life: Jesus, her children and grandchildren, and music.
First, her Lord Jesus Christ, the One who died for her and loved her where she was at in life from beginning to end without fail. She put her faith in Him as her Lord in her mid 30’s, and while life had not been easy, she never gave up knowing she would meet Him face to face when she stepped from one side of eternity to the next.
Second, her children, from the ones she lost and never met this side of heaven to the ones God gave her through the sacrifice of others. This later included her “grandbabies”, and yes, sometimes it was grands before children.
Thirdly, music. She was always playing something, singing something or teaching someone else to play or sing. She taught piano for years, sharing her love of music. She could always be found at the organ playing every Sunday at church. She went from choir director for the Free Methodist church in Lincoln NE to being the worship leader there for years. In total she spent 35 plus years worshiping the Lord and leading others to do so also.
