Myrle Albert Tharp

Myrle Albert Tharp, 81, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 6, 1936 to Albert and Mona Rhoades Tharp in Pocatello, Idaho. Myrle grew up in Pocatello. In September 1957 he married Carol Stirm. Together they had three daughters, LaDawn, Regina and Norene; who he adored. Myrles sister, Lovell Howarter was his protector and friend all his life. They were very close to each other and would spend hours talking. Myrle loved her dearly. Myrle worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 23 years, Whitmore Oxygen, Patton & Linton (Pocatello Ready Mix), Herbs R.V., and J.K. Merrell and Sons for 20 years. Myrle enjoyed sitting in his shop for hours tinkering, going to auctions and having fun. He also enjoyed going camping with his best friends, Denny and Dennis Brower. He loved spending time with family and friends. Everyone Myrle met was a friend. Myrle is survived by his sister, Lovell Howarter; daughters, LaDawn Benson, Regina Wright, Norene (Jim) Ward; Jason (Jodi) Haggard; 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mona; 1 brother, Bobby Tharp; 1 sister, Delores Wilson; 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Quintero and Serene Ward. We would sincerely like to give thanks to Monte Vista Care Center and Encompass Home Health & Hospice for the care and love they gave Myrle. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Pocatello. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6-8 pm, also at Colonial, and one hour prior to the services. A pot luck dinner will be held at 3 pm at the Elks Lodge, 410 S. Main St. in Pocatello, following the funeral services.
