Morgan Hencley

September 21, 1943 — September 26, 2015

Morgan R. Hencley, Fort Hall, Idaho, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, at PRMC with his wife by his side. Morgan was born September 21, 1943, in Pocatello to Omer Hobert and Dora Elva Cornwall Hencley. He lived in Pocatello until he was thirteen then the family moved to Fort Hall. Morgan attended grade school in Pocatello and junior and high school in Blackfoot where he graduated.
Morgan married the love of his life, Mary Grant, on March 14, 1964. They were married for over 51 years. Morgan and Mary had one son, Wesley Omer Hencley, of Fort Hall.
Morgan was a Viet Nam Veteran and served two tours of duty. He served in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Ticonderoga, from 1962 to 1966.
He was a lifelong member of the Operating Engineer's Local 370. He worked for Burgraf Construction, Idaho Falls, until the time of his retirement in 1994, due to a health issue.
Morgan loved doing things with his wife and his family. Every Sunday during Football season everyone would gather in Morgan's garage to watch football. There would be food, drink and good conversation and he would be right in the middle of it.
He had a beautiful yard that was lush and green. He had certain days that he would water and mow, on those days he wouldn't do anything else until those jobs were done. He didn't call it gardening or farming, he called what he did, "Herming." Morgan never referred to anything by what it was, he had his own names for everything and we all understood.
He is survived by his wife and son, 3 granddaughters Logan Hencley, Fort Hall, Michealene Howell. Boise, Elise (Randy) Peterson, Yuba City, CA, 3 great grandsons. 3 sisters Marsha & Lon Anderson, Coe Ann Southworth, Fort Hall, Wanda Ternus, Winnemucca, NV. In-laws: Bill and Dongai Grant of Chubbuck, Jerry and Donna Grant, Ray and Nelda Wellard, Roy Graham, of Fort Hall, Patty Larsen, Eugene, OR. Fred and Elsie Grant of Ogden, UT. And so many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that adored him and have "Uncle Morganisms," that will live on with them forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents Omer and Dora Hencley. Sisters Gloria Reed and Aloma Graham. Brother Dick Hencley. Mother and father-in-law Albert "Dead-eye" and Annie "Granny" Grant.
Services will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30th, and again for one hour before the service.
