Monty Edwards

Monty S. Edwards, Sr. passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010. He was born December 28, 1948 in Soda Spring, Idaho the son of Hyrum Kieth and Fernie Elaine (Grimm) Edwards. Monty attended Tyhee Grade School and graduated from Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho. Monty married Mona L. Fransen in 1967, together they had two children, son, Tracey and daughter, Tonia. They were later divorced. In 1973 Monty married Sharon A. Winland and that union brought two more children, daughter Candace and son, Monty Jr. that marriage ended in divorce in 1978. Monty married his current wife Linda Sue Rees on August 10, 1995 and they have resided in Pocatello throughout their married life. Monty and Linda enjoyed a family life of children, grand kids, reunions, camping and fishing together. They enjoyed helping the rest of the family. They enjoyed all kinds of crafts and carpenter work. They liked to do yard work alongside both sets of their parents. Monty was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid Rodeo Champion, an experienced home builder, Journeyman Electrician, master mechanic and sales, operator at Basic American Foods, he was a member of the Teamsters Union, an avid licensed business man as well as a knowledgeable sales person at local hardware stores. Monty was a Senior Maintenance Technician at a state housing company. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Rees Edwards of Pocatello; son, Monty Stephen (Barbara) Edwards, Jr. also of Pocatello; daughters, Tonia LaRee Edwards-Jannsen of Texas and Candace (Matthew) Michaelson of Pocatello; step-son, Rocky (Heather) Rees of Pocatello ; granddaughters, Makayla Rae Michaelson and Dakota Dawn Rees both of Pocatello; grandsons, Caden Mathew Michaelson, Colton James Rees and Dillon Vardall Rees all of Pocatello; mother, Ferne Elaine Grimm-Phillips of Pocatello; step-father, Merlon B. Phillips; brothers, Danny Kieth (Terry) Edwards of Nampa, Idaho and Jerry Lamont Edwards of Pocatello; brother sister-in law, Robert Lolita Russell of North Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-laws, Annie B. Colwell of Twin Falls, Idaho, Carol Colwell and Cheryl McNeil of Pocatello; brother-in law, Kay Baker of Pocatello; brother and sister-in-laws, Bill Rosanna Holmquest of Pocatello, Paul Loretta Newbold, Perry Connie Rees all of Pocatello, and Peggy Spraker of California. Monty was preceded in death by a son, Tracey Edwards; father, Hyrum Kieth Edwards; sister-in-laws, Vicki Marcham and Janette Baker; brother-in laws, Rocky L.N. Colwell and Arthur J. Colwell; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Rose Rees. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Alameda 8th Ward, 930 E Alameda, Pocatello, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Sunday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Avenue, Pocatello and again one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
