Mitchell Leo Stachowsky

October 2, 1983 — May 27, 2017

Mitchel Leo Stachowsky, 32 passed away at his mother's home on May 27, 2017. He was born in Salmon, Idaho on October 2nd, 1984 the son of Joy Good Voice and Mitch Stachowsky. Mitch graduated from Highland High School in 2002 where he loved and played baseball.

After graduation, he got a scholarship to CSI collage of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls to play baseball. Mitch was a 19-year-old catcher when he signed with the Boston Red Sox after being drafted as the 1,470th pick in the 2003 draft, out of CSI. The catcher Mitch had the thrill of making it to AAA as a 20-year-old, picking up five plate appearances when injuries struck the catching corps, but his three seasons were largely concentrated in the lower levels, the GCL, Lowell, Augusta and Greenville. Mitch showed power, clubbing 21 home runs and 24 doubles in his 158 games, but decided to retire from a baseball career after just three seasons. Mitch's extreme love of the sport never stopped and he coached in Idaho at Twin Falls, Highland High school and Pocatello American Legion Baseball.

Some of Mitch's fondest memories and exciting stories that he told were hunting, fishing and camping with his grandparents Chuck and Anna Charlton in Challis Idaho. He always wanted to be a Cowboy like the man he looked up to, his Grandfather Harold (Chuck) Charlton.

Mitch made friends everywhere. With his big heart, he embraced everyone that crossed his path with kindness. But the men who played ball with him know him best.

Mitch was raised by his single mom and had three sisters. In a home full of women he was very kind, sensitive, gentle and protective.

He is survived by: his grandfather, Harold "Chuck" Charlton of Pocatello; grandmother, Anna Charlton of Pocatello; mother, Joy Good Voice of Shelley, ID; and sisters, Anna Pierce of Pocatello, Amanda Stachowksy of Boise and Coral Goodvoice of Shelley.
