Mitchell Garbett

Mitchell Traughber Garbett, age 53, was born April 30, 1962 in Pocatello, Idaho to Robert Samuel and Dolores Euva Traughber Garbett. He passed away January 24, 2016.

Mitchell attended Lewis & Clark Elementary, Irving Junior High, and Pocatello High School, graduating in 1980. He then served a mission in the England Manchester Mission from 1981 to 1983. Upon returning home he attended Idaho State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. He was married to Shonni Mitton for 20 years; together they had twins, Robert and Richelle, and a daughter Alicia. Mitchell was also employed for 25 years by Gem State Distributors, working primarily as a Purchasing Manager.

Mitchell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in various scouting and bishopric positions. He also spent many years as Stake Executive Secretary in the Pocatello Stake, serving with Presidents Robert E. Chambers and Kenneth W. Stucki. Among other things, Mitchell enjoyed activities such as working in his yard, gardening, camping, boating, riding motorcycles, and studying history. Gospel study and spending time with family were priorities for Mitchell.

He is survived by his children; Robert Garbett, Alicia Garbett, Pocatello, and Richelle Garbett, Pueblo, CO, as well as brothers; Shawn (Susan) Garbett, Idaho Falls, Chris (Nata) Garbett, Kuna, ID, Rod (Myra) Miles, Boise, Mark (Debra) Miles, Juliaetta, ID, Byron (Kathy) Miles, Pocatello, Scot (Laurie) Miles, Pocatello, and sisters Margot (Charles) Denney, Nampa, and Deena (Steve) Riley, Chubbuck. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister, Jane Miles.

Funeral services for Mitchell will be at held at 11am on Saturday January 30th, 2016 at the Juniper Hills Ward chapel at 8200 W. Portneuf Road. A viewing will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at 10am. Graveside services will take place immediately following the funeral at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in Pocatello.
