POCATELLO-Mildred Louise Tuma, 91, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2011 in her home of 66 years. Mildred was born on Aug. 20, 1919 to John and Sophie Kneupfer in Chicago, IL. She had one sister, Ella Machek, and one brother Walter Kneupfer. She married Peter J. Tuma on May 28, 1938 in Chicago. Peter was a United States Marine and was stationed in Pocatello during World War II. When the war ended, Mildred and Pete chose to stay in Pocatello and began their own business. The company, originally known as Tuma Venetian Blind and Awning, later became Tuma Interiors. Mildred was an active member of the Catholic Community and dedicated her life to helping others. She will forever be remembered for her cookies, muffins, soups, and roasted duck. She extended kindness all around her, and taught each of us the value of giving. Along with her generosity, we will miss her great sense of humor. She is survived by her two daughters, Elaine Fowler, Pocatello, Janice (Blaine) Price, Lava Hot Springs, ID. Mildred had four grandchildren Gretchen Anderson (Stephen), Peter Fowler, Matthew Price (Rosie), and Brixen Price. She also had four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Zachary, Sean, and Christopher. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor on June 4, 2011at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church located at 439 N. Hayes St. Interment of ashes will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ethan Fischer and Dr. LaVonne Mills. Their incredible care and compassion gave our dear mother, grandmother, and friend 91 terrific years of independence. The family is also sincerely grateful for Alliance Home Health and Hospice staff for their care and support.
