Mike J. Walsh

Michael James Walsh passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2012. He was born May 10, 1968 in North Platte, Nebraska and moved to Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 3. He had a very fulfilling childhood which included lots of friends, family trips, barbeques, camping, and fun summers in Lava Hot Springs.

He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1986 followed by attending Idaho State University. In 1991, he graduated from the College of Business with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. He utilized his degree in various ways as an employee at AMI Semiconductor which later became ON Semiconductor. His 24 year career included work Test Technician, Customer Service Representative, Planner, Product Marketing Engineer, Strategic Account Manager, Marketing Manager, and a Senior Product Manager.

In 1987, he married Marcie (Melton) Walsh and they had two boys together. They were married for five years and later divorced. The years following his divorce included spending time with his two boys, lots of friends, and family. He later met what he always referred to as “his soul mate” Traci (Ketsdever) Walsh and they married in 2000. Together they blended a family of four children and later had a child together. One of the highlights as a family was their opportunity of working and living in Munich, Germany. While there, they travelled extensively and saw as much as they could. It was in Germany, that Mike found his love for German beer.

His hobbies included being with his soul mate " Traci and their five children, fishing ANYWHERE but especially fly fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River, camping, overnight hiking and fishing trips with his sons, travelling, playing poker with family and friends , going to breakfast with dad at Jumbo's, and learning to play his guitar.

Mike was always upbeat and usually had a smile on his face. He was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He had a gift of making people laugh and his family and friends will truly miss him. May you rest in peace.

Mike is survived by his wife and children, Traci (Ketsdever) Walsh, wife, Pocatello; Nicholas Walsh, son, Vancouver, Washington; Tyler and Olivia (Polk) Walsh, Portland, Oregon; Hayden Wood, son, Okinawa, Japan; Taryn Wood, daughter, Pocatello; and Conner Walsh, son, Pocatello. Mike is also survived by his parents, Terry and Jo Walsh, father and mother, Pocatello; siblings Melissa (Walsh) Henesh and Mike Henesh, American Falls, and Melanie (Walsh) Hill, and Stacey Hill, Rigby, Father and Mother-in-Law Gary and Laurie Ketsdever, Randolph, Utah, brother and sister-in-law Jason and Tammy Ketsdever, thirteen nieces and nephews, and one grandson on the way.

Preceded in death were his grandparents, Sid and Marie Walsh and Max and Margaret Paulsen.

In lieu of flowers, a family memorial fund will be set up in Mike's name at Idaho Central Credit Union.
