On April 3rd, 2025, our world was forever changed. Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend, Michael Ray Williams ventured on from this life into the afterlife after a sudden illness took his life.
Mike was born on October 16th, 1963, to Carol Drake and Gerald Williams. He was the second of three siblings. When he was 6 years old he met his beloved Lynda at a dance class. They reconnected when they were 12 years old at Franklin Jr. High. From there, their friendship blossomed and they were best friends and inseparable. Although she didn't realize it at the time, Lynda was his sweetheart for many years before they actually dated. In 1986 they sealed their love for each other and were wed.
Mike and Lynda welcomed their precious son, Keelan, on January 14th, 1988, unfortunately he was born asleep. His loving spirit still surrounds his family. They then welcomed their daughter Tashina on December 15th, 1988. Tashina was the princess in Mike’s world. They played together, joked, and were not only family but best friends. He even learned how to play video games just so he could spend even more time with her.
Mike spent his life on an eternal quest to care for his family, and he truly gave them a beautiful life. He had a deep love for his family and treated his beautiful, forever bride, Lynda, like a queen. They truly did everything together. Their love story was like a fairytale, both leaning on each other and using their lifelong friendship to guide their love. They had a deep connection and never wanted to be without each other. They always held hands anywhere they went, and he would even do her hair for her, and help her quilt. Mike was always eager to cook for his love. He always wanted to make sure she was taken care of and never wanted her to have to come home from work without a hot meal and a clean house.
In recent years, his love for his family grew as his daughter welcomed his grandsons into the world. He adored all three, and even though they lived thousands of miles apart he made sure to video call them and talk to them often. They brought him joy that was beyond measure and he was always excited to tell people about them.
Mike loved working in retail. He worked at Herberger's, where he truly loved connecting with people and helping them look and feel their best. He held the role as Santa there which he loved as well. More recently, he worked at FedEx, where his co-workers and customers adored him. Many customers would specifically ask for him upon entering the store.
Mike was an incredible cook, baker, painter, and he knew how to make a house feel like home. He was a wealth of knowledge (whether it be truth or made up). He could turn any plant into a work of art in his backyard sanctuary. His backyard was truly his little slice of heaven. He led a life of service, and was the real life example of “If you've done it unto the least of these my brethren, you've done it unto me.”
We are beyond devastated to lose our ray of sunshine and sass. Those who knew Mike best knew if he was joking with you, he loved you. He had a sense of humor that was all his own. He would joke many times about the silly things he wanted his family to do at his funeral, including a request to make his body pop up out of his casket to scare everyone. He wanted to be a real life “pop goes the weasel”. This just goes to show he was always trying to make us laugh. Mike taught us to be undeniably ourselves, no matter what people thought. He would take his nieces shoe shopping and try on heels with them, and he was even known to wear a tiara and earrings just to make them smile. He taught us that life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. He truly knew how to live life to its fullest, and his humor and love was contagious. Our hearts are full of beautiful memories with him, but it will never be enough.
Mike is preceded in death by his son Keelan Williams, his sister Angela Michaelson, his father Gerald Williams, and his mother Carol Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Williams, his daughter Tashina Williams, son in law Josh Williams, his grandchildren Dorian, Marshall and Myles Williams, his brother Kelly Williams, his nieces Katie Hanks, Amanda Michaelson, Dawn Cook, Nephew, Kenny Williams, and their spouses and families.
We love you forever Mike, may your legacy of love and laughter live on in our hearts for all eternity.
