Growing up in Pocatello, he attended, Washington Elementary, Franklin Junior High and graduated from Pocatello High in 1977. He then attended Vo-Tech at ISU and began his career of a Mechanic, of over 35 years. He had plenty of hobbies and interests that kept him busy when he wasn't working on cars. Such as, fishing and camping with his family. He was an avid motorcycle rider and often went to Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual bike rally until he was about 50. Watching the Kansas City Chiefs, John Wayne westerns and listening to old country music was very important to him. He fixed many things for people and loved being their handyman when he was needed. Mike is survived by his two kids, Chelsie Highland (Pocatello) and Terrance Highland (Pocatello); mother, Elaine Highland (Pocatello); brother and sister, Dave Highland (Denver, CO) and Diane Robbins (Seattle, WA); cousin and good friend, Odell Hatch (Pocatello); and cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfonso Ashbaker; and Nephew, Skylar Huffield. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers and Hospice Nurses that assisted Mike while he was in Bingham Memorial Hospital and their Skilled Nursing Facility. They all made a difference in each of our lives and we are truly grateful for the care that was provided.
