Michael Shane Shipley

Michael Shane Shipley, 24, passed away at his home on December 25, 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. Michael attended pre-school at the ISU Early Learning Lab, and elementary at Gate City & Jefferson Elementary Schools. He attended Irving Junior High and Pocatello High School and graduated from Willamette High School in Eugene, Oregon in 2002. He then attended one year at Lane County Community College in Eugene.

Michael married Annie Brown in March of 2005 and they later divorced. Michael was an active choir member at Irving Junior High and at Willamette High School.

As a toddler, he loved reading boos and learning sign language from his Auntie Heather; as a kindergartner he loved play acting Karate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with his brother Todd. As an elementary student he became interested in computers. Up until his death he spent many hours creating his own characters and designing computer games which he actively played with his on-line gaming friends.

As an infant he showed signs of loving music, when having headphones placed on his head, he commenced with smiling, kicking & rocking to the music. As a youth he played the piano and earned superior ratings on several pieces played during Pocatello's Annual Music Festival. He expanded his music talents to singing and keyboarding and developing his own musical pieces. He was a gifted artist as well. He tried his hand at several types of art which included comic style drawings. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his brother. Michael loved to spend time with him. They were inseparable for most of their lives. They were a great support to each other through all of life's journeys. Michael will be especially missed by his brother and best friend Todd.

He was preceded in death by; a cousin, Wesley Robert Patterson, Pocatello; great-grandfather, Joseph “Hunter” Gibson, Enoch, UT; great-grandmother, Lela Goodwin Gibson, Enoch, UT; and great-grandfather, George Kendall, Hucknall, Nottingham, England.
