Michael Schow, 68, passed away May 15, 2009, from complications of cancer. He was born May 13, 1941, in Los Angeles, California to Glenn Neil and Kathleen Isobel (Land) Schow. Michael spent most of his early life in Idaho and graduated from Plummer High School in Plummer, Idaho. He enlisted in the U.S. Army May 29, 1959 and served for five years during the Viet Nam War. He married during the war and had a son Cleveland and helped raise a daughter, Nicola. They were later divorced. He married Linda Lamb in 1973 and they had three children; twins, John and Kathleen, and Marcus. They were divorced in 1994. He married Janice Munk Meacham January 1, 1995, in Elko, Nevada. He became a parent of five more; Ellen, Kerri, Amanda, Ronda, and Kenneth. Michael worked primarily for the U.S.P.S. as a carrier. He was also actively involved helping veterans as a service advocate. He was also past post commander for the V.F.W. as well as acting as post commander for the American Legion, a life member of American Legion,VFW, DAV, NCOA, and 40/8. He was also an honorary member of the Fleet Reserve. He also belonged to the Elks Lodge. Michael loved fishing, hunting, rock hounding, and lapidary. He is survived by his wife, Janice Schow, Pocatello, children; Cleveland (Natalia) Mardlin, Bedford, England, John (Elizabeth) Schow, Nebraska, Marcus Schow, Nebraska, Elly (LeRoy Chavis) Phillips, Kerri (Dan) Rensch, Amanda (John) White, Roni (Dave) Eckman, and Kenny Holloway, all of Pocatello, Idaho and a brother, James Schow, Plummer, ID; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen, his parents and a brother, Nicholas Schow. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave, Pocatello. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be at Mountain View Cemetery following the services.
