Michael Richard Wade

March 4, 1948 — January 11, 2023

Michael (Mike) Richard Wade was born on March 4, 1948, to William (Bill) and Carolyne Wade. Mike passed away in his home on January 11, 2023.

Mike spent most of his life in Pocatello and in 1973 he married his wife, Marty Mchugh. That same year Mike began his career at the Union Pacific Railroad going on to retire in 2009. Mike and Marty had two children, Stephanie and Waylon. Mike skied religiously for the last 70 years at Skyline/Pebble Creek Ski Area. While skiing Mike was always happy to stop and help other skiers that were having a hard time making it down the run. Mike was still skiing the day before his passing. Mike enjoyed transforming the hillsides in his yard with his landscaping and gardening expertise. When the summer heat became too much Mike would migrate to Oregon and spend his days windsurfing on the Columbia River. Mike will be remembered for his inquisitive mind, his eagerness to learn new things and creative inventions.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rick Nordseth for his support and time spent with Mike. Thank you to Joe Walker for his insight with some of Mike's medical decisions. The family is extremely grateful for the physicians and all the medical staff that helped Mike beat prostate cancer in 2021. Thank you also to the physicians and staff that helped Mike work with his Alzheimer's diagnosis.

Mike is survived by his wife, Marty Wade; his daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Evans; granddaughters, Sophia and Scarlett; his son, Waylon Wade; his sister, Francie Anderson; nephew, Eric Anderson; and niece, Hailey (Nick) Walrath.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Carolyne; his sister, Terri; and his brother, David.

To honor his request, there will be no services. He asked that friends, in lieu of flowers, could donate to Pebble Creek Ski Patrol or Alzheimer’s research. The family would like to especially thank Avery Frazier at Wilks Colonial Chapel.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the “Tribute Wall” tab above.
