Michael "Mike" Hoffman

September 19, 1974 — February 18, 2021

Michael John Hoffman was born in Pocatello, Idaho on September 19, 1974 to John O. and Carla D. Hoffman. Mike was the second child born, joining his older brother Scott. John and Carla later blessed him with two additional siblings, Chrystal (Sissy) and Greg. Carla describes Mike as a mild mannered, kind, and quiet child. In his younger years, he enjoyed being at his Grandma Andersons house where she would watch him while his mom was working. He played baseball as a child and liked to wrestle. Mike loved the outdoors, Scouts, and family campouts. As a teenager, he worked in Nevada doing farm work. He attended Wilcox Elementary, Hawthorne Jr. High, and finished his education at Pocatello High School in 1992. Mike had a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked on various farms, at Walmart and was working at Idaho Fire and Flood at the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved family camping trips, cooking with Dutch Ovens, fishing, and hunting. Mike met Shellie Ann Sparrow when he was just 13. Little did he know, they would become sweethearts, and would marry four years later. They were married June 20, 1992 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later sealed on July 17, 2004 in the Idaho Falls Temple. In May of 1993, their first little sweetheart, Ashleigh Rickay was born and made them parents. She was born with struggles but didnt struggle alone. They struggled together just like they always had, leaning on each other. Three years later, in July of 1996, his "mini me", Rebekah Jo was born. They had an incredible bond like no other. You didnt see Mike without his "little shadow" far behind. In July of 2000, they added their last baby girl and Mikes namesake to our family. Michaela Ann came bounding into their lives. He was her biggest cheerleader. When she played Rugby, he traveled to Denver Colorado to support her and cheer her on. Mike was the best "dad of girls". He was always there with a listening ear, a word of advice (even when they didnt like it), and was the biggest supporter they could ever ask for. These girls were the reason he worked so hard and loved so fiercely. In 2014, Mike was so excited to finally get "his boy". His grandson, Taysen Michael was born. He was so excited to experience this new adventure. In 2017, grandpas next little adventure, "little princess", Berkleigh Ann was born. That cute little pink, sassy bundle quickly had her grandpa wrapped around her fingers. In 2020, he was blessed with two "bonus" grandsons Owen Jace and Mason Reed, two little boys that he never knew he needed but love as his own. Once grandkids came, Mike couldnt wait for the weather to get warmer, so he could share that love of the outdoors with his grandkids. Mountain picnics were a must. Unfortunately, Mikes adventures were cut short due to his loving heart being needed elsewhere. Mike passed away at home, on Thursday, February 18, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Shellie Ann Hoffman; daughters, Ashleigh Mingo (Aaron Higgins), Rebekah Hoffman (Anthony Moreno), and Michaela Hoffman; three grandsons, Taysen, Owen, and Mason, and a granddaughter, Berkleigh; his parents, John, and Carla Hoffman; brothers Scott (Kelly) Cates, Greg (Kristine) Hoffman, and sister Chrystal Hoffman. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Clifford and Ellen Anderson and William and Patricia Hoffman.
