Michael Joe Fisher

October 29, 1955 — June 30, 2014

Michael Joe Fisher, 58, of Chubbuck passed away on Monday June 30, 2014, following his courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born October 29, 1955, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Joseph Elgin Fisher and Ruth Petersen Fisher. Michael grew up in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, and enjoyed spending his summers with his grandparents and cousins on the ranch in Terreton. He graduated Highland High School in 1973 and then attended Idaho State University Vo-Tech where he became certified in Auto Mechanics in December 1974.

His early work life included Stoddard-Mead Ford in Idaho Falls and C Ed Flandro Ford which later became Courtesy Ford in Pocatello. His friends and family knew him best as the person they could count on to fix any car problem.

On December 15, 1977, Michael married Tina Marie Hunter for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they have an eternal family with five children: Kari, Kristi, Jami, Jodi, and John.

Michael enjoyed the outdoors with his family, including camping, hunting, boating, riding ATVs and motorbikes. He also enjoyed reloading, cowboy action shooting, and watching westerns. Michael was always ready with a joke and a smile and loved to make up song lyrics on the spot about anything he found funny.

After a work related injury in 1992, he returned to Idaho State University to obtain his bachelor's degree in Corporate Training, and then began his teaching career at ISU in the Automotive Technology Department. He was an instructor there for 14 years before retiring due to health reasons.

Michael enjoyed serving in the LDS church, especially in the Scouting Program. A faithful priesthood holder, he was recently ordained to High Priest and was a good example to his kids. He always felt that his greatest accomplishment was his family and will be dearly missed by all.
Michael is survived by his children, Kari Fisher of Boise, Kristi (Scott) Smith of Idaho Falls, Jami Fisher of Portland, Jodi (Ben) Mills of Pocatello, and John (Kasenya) Fisher of Pocatello, and his granddaughter Adelina Mae Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Elgin Fisher, his mother, Ruth Petersen Fisher, his wife, Tina Marie Hunter Fisher, and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday July 3, 2014, at the LDS Chapel, 4890 Whitaker Road.
