Michael Jay Busby

September 16, 1954 — February 11, 2020

First of all, Mike would have never wanted us to come up with a run-of-the-mill obituary to post about his life. Even still, we have to tell the story of the best son, husband, dad, brother, and grandpa anyone could have ever had. On a hot summer day, April Webb was laying on the beach with her girlfriend, when the most gorgeous man she had ever seen jogged by. Aprils closest friend sat up and asked inquisitively, "Whos that?!" April, knowing exactly who that was, said, "Mike Busby." They were married November 11, 1978. During their marriage counseling, the pastor told them they would never make it. They had been married 41 years when he went to heaven on February 11, 2020. Mike and April had two girls, Heather (40) and Holly (38) (Chris Williams), and a son, Jordan (34). Growing up in Pocatello, Mike really loved his childhood and having four other siblings to share his childhood experiences with: Linda Westbrook, Larry Busby, Theresa Schmidt, and Cindy Fullmer. Mike Busbys favorite place to spend his time was in the Sawtooth Mountains and at Redfish Lake. He was an avid water and snow skier, and loved to hike, camp, and fish. He was also a talented baseball player and was chosen as city All-Star pitcher at the age of 11. As a dad, Mike was extremely invested in his childrens lives, teaching them how to snow ski, water ski, camp out, ride bikes, build snowmen, wrestle, play sports, and never missed a game, competition or performance. Mike worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an Information Technologies Director. He traveled all over the western United States building and maintaining the railroads communication system, and never called in sick one day of his life. Mike was there for the birth of all four of his grandkids, Jace (9), Lincoln (7), Judah (17 months), Grayson (16 months), and those four boys were one of the happiest parts of his life. One of their best memories is grandpa taking them snow sledding on the back of the razor on Christmas day. One of his most favorite things about the baby boys was their curly hair, and one of the very last things he said was, "Kiss those curls for me." There is a void in our lives that will never be filled, but we look forward to the reunion in heaven we will all get one day. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Christ's Love Vineyard, 415 S. 2nd Pocatello, ID.
