Michael Gerald Harris

CHUBBUCK - Michael Gerald Harris, 65, passed away peacefully following a short illness on Monday May 11, 2009 at a local medical center with all of his loving family by his side.
He was born October 5, 1943 at his home in Thatcher on the anniversary of his parents Gerald and Syble Harris. He attended school in Thatcher and Grace followed by vocational school for upholstery in Pocatello.
He married Nan Revoir on his birthday October 5, 1961. This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. To this union was born 3 daughters and 1 son.
Mike owned and operated Mike's Auto Repair in Grace for 10 years. He bought and ran the family farm for several years before settling in Pocatello where they have resided for the past 16 years. He worked for Teton Services as a courier and Hammond Services as an armored truck driver. He retired in 2006. Since retiring he has been working with his son Justin in the floor covering and cabinetry business.
He was an active member of the LDS church serving in various callings and loved doing temple work.
His favorite pastimes included camping, hunting, and fishing. He had a special knack for working on cars and liked to travel. He also loved music, especially “The Boss”. He had a deep love for his family and will be missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Nan of Chubbuck, 3 daughters Lori (Chuck) Smith of Thatcher, Michelle Land of Chubbuck, Amy (Larry) Gunn of Pocatello, and one son Justin (Janet) Harris of Pocatello, his mother Syble (Stuart) Tyler of Blackfoot, one sister Pat (Merlin) Farnes of Blackfoot, 16 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Harris, and his sister Gloria (Darwin) Peck.
At his request, graveside services will be held on Thursday May 14, 2009 at 12 pm at the Thatcher Cemetery, with Bishop Earl Phippen of the Chubbuck 3rd Ward conducting. A viewing will be held from 6-7:30pm, Wednesday evening at the Thatcher/Williams LDS Chapel in Niter. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd.
