Michael Edward Colleran Sr., 70, was born July 20, 1947 in Santa Rosa, California. He passed away on January 14, 2018 after a difficult battle with lung cancer. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Mary Colleran. Mike was survived by the mother of his children, Michelle Colleran-Bullock; his sons, Michael (Lucy) & Kean (Eleise), and daughter, Caitlin; 7 grandchildren, Osmyn, Jaxtyn, Karmyn, Rowyn, Makklyn, James, and Michael III; his sister, Cathy Favro; nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Growing up Mike loved sports. He was a good baseball player. He loved cars and more than likely drove them fast and furious. His "happy place" was the family lake house in northern Wisconsin. It was there he learned how to water ski. His grandfather taught him to fish, shoot, drive a tractor, and farm potatoes. As an adult with his friends, he continued to boat and water ski, play baseball, float the Salmon River, fish with friends and family in Mexico and Oregon, and probably his favorite, play golf. After retiring, he spent most of his days on the course. His friends call him doggy. He was raised in Kansas City, Kansas. In the late 1960's he moved to Los Angeles, California and started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a Switchman. Mike ventured to Idaho in 1971 finally settling in Pocatello, Idaho. With the railroad, he worked as a Brakeman, then a Conductor; retiring with 40 years of service. Mike married Michelle Westover October 22, 1983. Together they had 3 children, Michael Jr, Kean, and Caitlin. As a family they enjoyed many things from athletics to the great outdoors. They loved their cabin in the woods, boating and water skiing with their Chris craft, snowmobiling, fishing, snow skiing and much more. Being with friends and family were happy times. Mike coached many of his kids sports activities. They spent endless hours sitting on bleachers supporting their children's athletics. Mike and Michelle divorced after 23 years but remained good friends up to his death. Mike could exasperate you but was dearly loved and will be extremely missed. He made all of us laugh until we hurt. One friend wrote to him recently and stated it perfectly: "Will always think of you as the guy with the wild, easy laugh who enjoyed life so much." "You made us all enjoy life more when we were with you." Services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 12 pm at St Joseph's Chapel, 439 N. Hayes Ave, Pocatello, ID 83204 with a viewing on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm with a memorial at 5 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
