Merrilyn Dawn Holman

Merrilyn, at 89 years old, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, to a wonderful reunion with her sweetheart Norman, beloved parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister, and many more cherished family members and friends.

Merrilyn was born December 5, 1933, in Pocatello, Idaho to Wilford Woodruff Briscoe and Elna Jane Johnson Briscoe. She grew up in Tyhee on the family farm. At the age of 12 her father died, leaving her mother and 6 children who pulled together and worked hard every day to provide for the family. In 1954 she married Denzil H. Hillebrant. They raised 6 children together and later divorced.

On July 21, 1990, Merrilyn was married to Albert Norman Holman who had previously lost his wife, Orvene, to cancer. Merrilyn and Norman were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and shared almost 10 wonderful years together. Norman passed away 23 years ago from cancer on January 6, 2000. Heartbroken, Merrilyn spent the rest of her life loving their families, reaching out to friends, giving service to those around her, writing family histories, poetry and growing flowers. Her unwavering testimony of our loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ gave her peace and kept her going for the rest of her life.

Merrilyn and Norman have a combined family of 9 children, Merrilyn’s: Joylene (Kevin) Quick, Wade (Tonja) Hillebrant, Craig Hillebrant, Sandra (Mike) Waldron, Brenda Hillebrant, Julie Hillebrant, and Norman’s: Nolene Hollifield, Penny (Kelly) Fisher, Gaye Taylor and 27 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11 a.m., with a viewing beginning 1 hour prior. All services will be held at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho.
