Merlon B. Phillips

April 27, 1935 — July 20, 2018

*PLEASE NOTE THE SERVICE TIME CHANGE* Merlon Bee Phillips returned home Friday July 20, 2018 to be with his wife, Elaine, and three sons, Danny, Monty, and Jerry. He will also be welcomed by his mother and father, Roscoe and Karna Phillips and five brothers, Roy, Dean, Earl, Glenn, and Jay. Merlon was the sixth son of Roscoe and Karna Phillips born on April 27, 1935 in Buhl, Idaho and would be joined later by two younger sisters, Maxine and Darlene. Merlon had a passion for hunting and fishing. He had many jobs in his career and insisted they all be done with perfection from hauling milk for Kraft and Challenge, milking cows for his parents, working for Springfield Canal and Lamb Weston. In 1967 Merlon went to work for FMC in Pocatello until his retirement 30 years later in 1997. After retirement, Merlon opened a lawn service and later he and his son, Monty, ran a mobile RV power washing business. Merlon loved the outdoors and was an avid snowmobiler and motorcyclist. He loved all Ford trucks and was so proud of his truck that it had to shine from the motor to the bumper. He was a proud man and he always showed it. After Merlon retired, he and Elaine spent their winters in Arizona with family. He later would be cared for by the compassionate staff of Syringa Chalet in Blackfoot. Merlon is survived by his two sisters, Maxine McCune of Downey, ID and Darlene Grimm of Blackfoot, ID; four sons, Terry, Wayne and Layne of Lewiston, ID and Randy of Pocatello. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, with a viewing for one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Aberdeen Cemetery, with dedication of the grave. A reception will follow at The Christian Fellowship Church in American Falls; across from the city park. Friends and family are invited to join us and share your stories.
