Merlin B. Christiansen, 85, of Chubbuck, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home. He was born on October 31, 1926 in Pocatello, Idaho. After graduating from Pocatello High School he served in the US Navy South Pacific Theatre during WWII and was honorably discharged. He married Rachel Galloway in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 15, 1949, in Blackfoot, Idaho. They were sealed together for time and eternity on April 14, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Merlin graduated from VoTech at Idaho State College in 1949. He was employed by Kraft Foods for 40 years. Merlin was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served several missions during his lifetime. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, 4 daughters, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, and 3 brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the doctor and nurses at Creekside-Encompass, and especially to Daniel Still. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the 41st Ward LDS Chapel located at 1700 Kinghorn in Pocatello. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave, and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Military honors will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
