Melvin J Haggard

Melvin J. Haggard, 71, of Pocatello, Idaho returned home to the Creator on Sunday, October 19, 2014 peacefully in his home.

Mel was born June 5, 1943 in Idaho Falls to Everrette Haggard and Amy IvyLea Sawyer Haggard. He received his GED from ISU.

In 1973 he married the love of his life, Carol E. Haggard. They spent 33 wonderful years together.
In 1974, Mel began his 28 years of being a maintenance man at J.R. Simplot Co. He was known for being a prankster and scaring his co-workers.

Mel loved to fish, hunt, camp, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling and just being with family. Mel also enjoyed supporting his son and all the other dancers at Sundance. And he was a Haggard… he loved his naps.

Melvin is survived by his son, Jason (Jodi) Haggard; three daughters, LaDawn Benson, Regina Wright and Norene (Jim) Ward; a sister, Wanda (Sam) Otero; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol E. Haggard; parents, Everrette and Amy Haggard; brothers, Ervine, Dillard, and David Haggard; sisters, Reva Haggard, Mildred Haggard; and Melba Newsom; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Quintero and Sorene Ward.
