Mellonie Holmes

Mellonie Holmes, 63, of Pocatello, passed away February 28, 2013 at her home of an extended illness. Mellonie was born September 22, 1950, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Henry Clay Tipton and Gladys Faye Mellonie Tipton. Mellonie was born and raised in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1968. She married Rob Holmes on January 26, 1973 and they had a daughter, Kim and a son, Brent. She worked several jobs in her lifetime. She worked at AMI where she met Rob. She then spent a few years as a teller at First Security Bank. She spent the majority of her life working for Albertson's, first as a bookkeeper and later as a pharmacy technician until she became disabled. She absolutely loved spending quality time with her kids and grandkids. They were the light of her life and she would have done anything in the world for them. She also enjoyed the company of her cat, Baylor, who liked her and only her. In her spare time, Mellonie loved gardening, fishing, boating, and camping with her family and friends. She later had a love for horses. Her sidekick horse was a fox trotter named Honey. She had a passion for the outdoors. She also had a tender heart for stray animals in the Mink Creek area. Her family used to tease her that at one time they had their own small petting zoo and they were a refuge for wayward animals. She is survived by her husband, Rob, daughter, Kim Ridgway, and brother Byron (Nancy) McBride, all of Pocatello, a brother, Bill Tipton, Idaho City, Idaho, two grandchildren, Katelyn Ridgway, Pocatello and Devan Holmes, Boise. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Brent. Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 11:00 am at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her honor to the Bannock Humane Society.
