Melanie Sue Rash was born in Boise, ID on August 17, 1960, the daughter of Jack and Frances (Reusser) Rash; and passed away at home after a long courageous fight with cancer on Saturday, November 24th, 2012.
Melanie's Dad, Jack was a store manager with Albertsons Grocers and the family moved around several times before finally settling down in Pocatello, ID in 1969 where she has resided ever since with the exception of a few years in Ogden, UT. Melanie attended several business and financial classes over the years while holding a position for the Bannock County Clerk's office where she worked for 20 years.
Melanie married Herb Castaneda in the summer of 1978 and they had one daughter, Elizabeth. Melanie remarried Ray Johnson in the summer of 1985 and they had one son, Steve. Ray later passed away.
Melanie met Jerry Magee in 1991 where they began their eternal love for one another and were later married.
Mel loved golfing with her husband and son, Camping and Hiking in the Sawtooth Range and Red Fish Lake, Traveling with her family (Disney vacations) and spending time with her Grandchildren. Mel also enjoyed when all of her siblings could get together and share stories and laughs. She also enjoyed her involvement with Girl Scouts and the Daughters of Job.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Jerry Magee, Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Elizabeth (Johnny) Guerrero, Pocatello, Idaho; son, Steve (Sarah) Johnson, Shoreline, Washington; son, Corey Magee, Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Nicolette (Curtis) Christianson, Portland, Oregon; brother, Robert (Robbin) Rash, Boise, Idaho; sister, Janet (Sam) Knighton, Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Brenda (Brent) Osuna, Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Joel (Theresa) Rash, Fort Collins, Colorado; six grandchildren, Anthony, Brooklyn, Gabriel, Johnny III, Elise, and Scarlett; five nieces and four nephews.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Frances Rash, and a brother, Paul Rash.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Michael Francisco who cared for Melanie over the years. We would also like to recognize and thank The Portneuf Cancer Center and the staff at the Idaho Home Health and Hospice for their loving care. Thank you to the Bannock County employees, who held fund raisers, provided moral support and were always there for Melanie. Jerry, Brenda, Bob and Joel are so very thankful and blessed for their Sister Janet who unconditionally cared for and loved our dear sister Melanie during her final weeks. She is a blessing to us all. We love you dearly Sis! To Steve and Sarah Johnson, Thank You for caring and loving your Mom during the time she spent with you in Seattle, we are blessed by you.
