Max Lamprecht

Max Lamprecht passed away on Sunday February 26th in Chubbuck, Idaho with his family at his side. He died of complications from Alzhiemer's Dementia. Max was born April 25, 1938 in Thomas, Idaho to Emil and Katie Lamprecht, who were German immigrants. He grew up on a farm with his brothers Elmer, Emil, Phil, Lyle, and his sister Linda.

He learned from a young age the value of hard work, faithfulness, and a strong love for the Savior. At the age of 21, he served a mission for the LDS church in Germany. This was a turning point in his life. He decided to go to college so that he could teach the German language. He met Jane Bingham as he was going to ISU. He married Jane on December 28, 1964 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born 5 children. Max and Jane graduated together from ISU in 1967. He then went on to teach German at Highland High School for 31 years. He traveled to Germany many times with his family and his students. His German heritage was a great source of pride for him.

Max was a faithful member of the LDS church. He served in many callings throughout his life. He especially enjoyed those callings associated with missionary work and temple work. He and Jane served an LDS mission in Nashville Tennessee in 2000. The gospel of Jesus Christ and his family were the most important things in his life.

Max is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane, and their five children: Joelle Bird, Pocatello; Julie (Daren) Olson, Boise; Kurt Lamprecht, Hailey; Nancy (Rene) Perez, Pocatello; and Cara (Jasone) Cochran, Millcreek Utah; as well as his nine grandchildren: Erik, Brennon, Jessica, Alyssa, Kristian, Isabel, Jaxone, Zoey, and "Little" Max. He is also survived by his brothers Elmer Lamprecht, Lyle (Deanna) Lamprecht and sister Linda (Gary) Larson, and a sister-in-law Joy (Cedric) Turnpaw. Also surviving him are brother and sister-in-laws Rhea (Don) Christensen, David (Joyce) Bingham, Ralph Mortensen, and Paul (Lori) Bingham.

He is preceded in death by a still-born twin, an infant brother Roy, brothers Emil and Phil Lamprecht, sister-in-laws Betty Rae Lamprecht, and Lois Mortensen.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ashley Manor for the care that was given to Max during the last two and a half years of his life. The family would also like to thank Horizon Health Care and Hospice for their support in the last few months. Thanks to all the family and friends for their visits that meant so much to Max.

As per his wishes, Max has generously donated his body to the University of Utah for medical research.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the LDS church at 4773 Independence Ave. and W. Chubbuck Rd. The family will greet guests starting at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are under care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
