Max E. Sherwood, 86, passed away Tuesday June 21, 2016 peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, son and daughter. Max was born and raised in Pocatello, the son of George and Helen Sherwood. He was the youngest of 5 brothers, (Glenn, Don, George, Ray, and Keith) and one sister, (Nina). In his early years, Max enjoyed coaching little league baseball and being around his family. He started working when he was 14 for Eddies Bakery and then worked at Coca-Cola for many years. He worked several different jobs, but his favorite was delivering beer for a local distributorship to bars, and grocery stores. Max retired in 1994 from North American Van Lines. He was married to the love of his life, Norita (Contos) Sherwood for 48 years. Norita passed away in May, 2001. In June 2002 Max married Opal Hokanson they were married for 14 wonderful years. He leaves behind his wife, Opal (Hokanson) Sherwood; son, Craig Sherwood and wife, Cheryl; daughter, Saundra (Sherwood) Lewis and her husband, Clesie; sister, Nina (Sherwood) Curran; grandchildren, Kellen and Scott Sherwood, Katie (Lewis) Taylor and Patricia (Lewis) Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Kennedy, and Kaydence Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Sherwood; brothers, Glen, Don, George, Ray, Keith; and wife, Norita. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 12 noon at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204, with a viewing for one hour prior, starting at 11 am, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. 208-233-1500.
