Maurene Crandall

LOGAN, Utah - Maurene Jones Crandall, 91, longtime Pocatello resident, died peacefully, in Logan, Utah on Thursday, June 1, 2017.​ The daughter of Evan E. and Lillie Jones, she was born on November 18, 1925, in Blackfoot, Idaho. She married Richard Grace Crandall on November 14, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple, and they had six children. She graduated from Pocatello High School and Idaho State University. She taught drama and speech at Pocatello High School and loved theater all of her life. She was known for directing plays for church and community groups over many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always enjoyed giving to others and family and friends loved her for that quality. She was devoted to family and loved spending time with them at her beloved cabin in Victor, Idaho. She served in positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life including Relief Society President and Gospel Doctrine Teacher. Maurene and Richard lived in the Pocatello 2nd Ward for 50 years. She is survived by her five children, Evan (Susan) of St. Louis, Monte (Ann) of Twin Falls, Barbara (Russ) of Logan, Brian (Tammy) of Salt Lake City, and David (Lisa) of Denver; five siblings, Evan (Bountiful), Danny (Salt Lake City), Diane (Temecula), Dennis (Fresno), and David (Bountiful). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; Mary Donna and Helen; an infant daughter, Maurene Elizabeth; and a grandson, Blake. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 5, 2017, at 11 am at the Pocatello LDS Caldwell Chapel located at 135 S. 7th Ave, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho.
