Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Marylan Bywater Whitaker, passed away on August
26, 2022 at her home.
She was born October 15, 1937 to Glen & Nona Bywater in Brigham City, Utah, and was the
second of ten children. As a child she lived in Stars Ferry, Unity, and View Idaho, as well as
Clovis, California for one year. In college she lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from
Burley High School in 1955, then graduated from Stevens-Henager College in 1956 in the
business field.
Dennis and Marylan met at Stevens-Henager College and were married March 27, 1957 in the
Logan, Utah Temple. They welcomed four children to their family; Ricky (deceased), Machelle,
Kathy, and Pamela and raised them in Chubbuck, Idaho. On March 27, 2022 they began their

Growing up Mom learned the value of hard work by helping on the family farm and learning
many valuable skills within the home that she has passed onto her children. Mom taught 4-H for
several years and influenced many young people. She loved to garden, can, bake, sew, spend
time with her family and especially her grandchildren, and loved to serve others in the
community and her church. She enjoyed entering various items in the local and state fairs and
received many top awards. She served as the North Bannock County Fair Superintendent for
over 30 years. She worked for several years for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District with the
Follow Through program and once retired volunteered in the classroom as a reading aide.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many
callings. She enjoyed serving as the primary chorister and women’s choir director for many
years. She also served as a Relief Society advisor for a local college ward where her and our dad
served together. She loved attending the temple and sharing her love of the gospel with her
family, especially through music.
She is survived by her husband Dennis Whitaker; Daughters Machelle Whitaker, Kathy Yount,
and Pam (Gary) Zeal; 16 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Grandchild on the
