Mary T. Engan, 98, passed away peacefully January 9, 2020 surrounded by family at the home of her granddaughter in Chubbuck, Idaho.
Mary was born to John and Mary (Stercula) Staszecki on November 13, 1921. Mary was the fourth of ten children. She graduated from Bloomington HS in 1937 and St. Joseph's Hospital of Nursing in 1942. She served her country in the U.S. Navy during WorldWar II, where she met her husband, James Engan a Naval Aviator. They were married in 1945. Following her military service she received her Bachelor of Science from Bradley University in 1950.
Mary and James had 4 children, James, William, Thomas and Zachary. She worked as a nurse until 1991. Mary assisted in raising two grandchildren and brought a lot of joy to her family. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, especially for antiques. Sheloved her dogs over the years Puggy, Uther, Olie, Daisy and Buddy.
Mary is survived by two of her children, James and Zachary; one brother, Tom Staszecki; seven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. The services will include Military Rites, and will be officiated by Deacon Tom Mannschreck, from The Cathedral of St.Joseph the Evangelist, in Boise, and then concluded with a grave dedication by her grandson, Brandon.
