Mary Lee Bocek Hurt

05/16/1940 – 10/05/2022

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small,

Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,

Until the day comes, we’re together again.

On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Mary Lee Bocek Hurt passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, on May 16, 1940, to Gladys and Paul Bocek. The family was large, with six kids, three girls and three boys.

The family soon moved to Idaho, and Mary Lee married at a young age, having a large family of her own also with six kids, three girls and three boys: Garry Adams, KC Adams, Ivalou Adams, Van Adams (Angel), Patsy Adams Siaperas (Rory), and Polly Adams. The family continued to grow not only in size but love and strength.

On February 7, 1977, Mary Lee married the love of her life, Jonnie Hurt. She believed family was everything, and her main hobby and interests were loving, laughing, and any activities that included her husband and family, from camping, family dinners, and holidays to just sitting and chatting over coffee (Mary Lee loved her coffee).

Mary Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Paul, brothers Joseph and Albert Bocek, and son, Van Adams. She is survived by her husband, Jonnie Hurt, brother Les Bocek (Joan), sister Florence Berti (August), sister Donna Vaughn (Johnny), children Garry, KC, Ivalou, Patsy, and Polly, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she loved with her every breath even past her last.

There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, October 9, 2022, in Lava Hot Springs at the Lost Trail at Lost River Campgrounds pavilion at 1 p.m. (9611 E. Highway 30, Lava Hot Springs, ID). Special thanks go out to the Vaughn cousins for providing for the celebration.
