Martin Rasmussen, 59, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on Friday, July 26, 2013 after battling Cancer for 6 years. Martin was born in Pocatello on January 8, 1954. Martin was married to Teresa Jones Rasmussen on May 17, 1981 and had three children. At a young age, he worked alongside his family as a grounds keeper and waiter at the Country Club. At age 18, after graduating Pocatello High school in 1972, he started at FMC, where he continued to work for 35 years. After the closing of the FMC plant, He began working as a Farmers Insurance Agent for 2 years. Martin and his wife, Teresa, also managed property for family members residing out of town. They were involved in multilevel businesses from 2001 to 2012, where they enjoyed traveling all over the U.S, including Florida, Missouri, and California, and also the Bahamas. While building their multilevel business they developed many close friendships that continued through the years. Martin was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping with his family. Martin enjoyed golfing and often traveled with friends and family to multiple new golf courses. Along with his wife, he attended many high school community sporting events to watch friends and family. Most of all, Martin loved gathering with his family. A major highlight of his life was his family reunion, where he spent quality time with his extended family. Martin's family and friends will always remember him as a kind, loving, and affectionate family man who always brought those around him joy with his friendly smile. Because he never hesitated to reach a hand out to new people, Martin was always surrounded by friends. He was instantly loved by every person he came in contact with. Martin was a kind man, with a big heart, who will be missed dearly. Martin is survived by his wife, Teresa Jones Rasmussen, daughters Michelle (David) Van Pelt and Katie (Logan) Gull, grandson, Landon Gull, son John (Kimberly) Rasmussen, and granddaughter, Eloise Rasmussen. He was preceded in Death by his father, DeVerl "Charlie" Rasmussen, mother, Helen Rasmussen, step-father, Glenn "Huck" Hayes, and brother, Joel Rasmussen. Services for Martin will held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the LDS Lakeview Chapel located at 1440 Lakeview. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4 th Avenue, and again one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
