Marta Jo Link, 66, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.

Marta Jo was born July 29, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Leo and Margaret (Zook) Merrill. She graduated in 1961 from Milwaukie High School in Milwaukie, Oregon. She later attended Portland State University.

In 1965, Marta Jo met her husband, Andy Link in Ewa, Hawaii. They were married on February 24, 1967 in Pocatello.

Marta Jo went to work at ISU Bookstore in August 1968. She retired from the bookstore on June 30, 1999, however she was not able to stay away as she later returned to work part-time at the College of Technology. While working at the bookstore she was involved in many activities, which included: Classified Employees Council June 1985-May 1988, and served as President from June 1987-May 1988; Board of Directors of Bengal Foundation 1987-Present and served as President 2004-2005; she also helped out with the Bengal Foundation Auction, 1994-2009; and served on the National Board of Directors of Campus Computer Reseller Alliance. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association. On January 16, 2010 she was the first female recipient of the Kirkpatrick Award at Idaho State University.

Marta Jo also was involved with Guardian Council International Order of Job's Daughters, Bethel #57 in Pocatello from September 1985-September 1989 and again from September 2006-present. She was made an honorary member of Bethel #57.

Marta Jo is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Andy Link of Pocatello; daughters, Christine (Daryl) Salhus of Tacoma, WA; Andrea (Craig) Brainard of Chubbuck; eight grandchildren, Joshua-Michael Kiggins 21, Alex-Ray Link 18, Ashton Kiggins 16, Aspen Brainard 15, Trinity Brainard 10, Takoda-Jason Brainard 7, Brody Salhus 7, Zander Salhus 3; a sister, Maralee Gellenthien of Pocatello; father-in-law, Ernest Link of Pismo Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Kathryn (Howard) Ferguson of Arroyo Grande, CA; a brother-in-law, Ernest (Kim) Link of Santa Rosa, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Marta Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Margaret Merrill and her mother-in-law, Georgia Link.
