Marsha Rae Dunn

July 9, 1953 — November 5, 2021

Marsha Rae Dunn, 68, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter by her side.

Marsha was born July 9, 1953 to George Wesley and LaRue Daniels Gunter in Pocatello, ID where she spent the first years of her life. Her family later moved to McCammon, ID where she soon met the love of her life.

She met Michael James Dunn at the age of 14 when she saw him riding his bike down the church steps and knew that he would be her husband. On September 11, 1970 Marsha and Michael were married and lived in Inkom and McCammon, ID welcoming their first 2 sons, Mark and Mike. They built and moved to their home on the Marsh Creek in McCammon, ID when Mark was a year old. This is where they welcomed their daughter Michelle and son Marshall to complete their family.

Marsha babysat for many families in the McCammon area while being a stay at home mom taking care of the family and home for many years. When her four children were all in school she began working outside the home. She eventually went to work for Blue Shield of Idaho and worked there for many years. She left Blue Shield and became an independent insurance agent giving her the freedom to spend more time with her family. She left the insurance business and retired soon after Mike’s passing in 2003 and worked full time at taking care of her kids and grandkids, which was her favorite “job”.

She had four children, but if you asked her, she had many more than that. She welcomed all into her home and cared for everyone as if they were family. You never walked away from her home hungry! She enjoyed spending time with her kids and all of their friends from baking cookies to making hobo dinners for them to take camping “over the hill” in the summer.

Mom loved to make quilts for friends and family. If you received a quilt from mom, she considered you family! She made over 50 quilts in 2020 and was up to 24 quilts in 2021. She was making quilts up until the last month when her little heart just could not keep up with her anymore.

After dads passing, Mark and his family built their home next to mom and helped with the upkeep of the property. Mark always made sure the driveway was plowed in the winter so that mom could get out when needed and checked on her each day. She was very proud of all of her kids and grandkids (biological and adopted!) and bragged about them any chance she got.

Marsha is survived by her children, Mike Dunn (Holly) Thayne, WY, Mark Dunn (Chris) McCammon, ID, Michelle Farris (Frank) Chubbuck, ID, and Marshall Dunn Pocatello, ID, her siblings, Donam Gunter, Inkom, ID, Marlean Dunn (Kyle) Pocatello, ID, and Lynette Rowe (Jerry) Declo, ID. Brothers-in-law Curtis Dunn (JoDeana) Mccammon, ID, and Darren Dunn (Karalee) Alpine, WY.
