Marsha Ann Layton

January 12, 1951 — March 4, 2019

Marsha Ann Simons Layton, age 68, returned home to her Heavenly Father and joined in a reunion with her father, mother, and brother on March 4, 2019. Marsha was born January 12, 1951 to Max Flueitt Simons and Verna Payne Simons. She grew up in Pocatello and American Falls. She excelled in school and was her class salutatorian. She married John Rhoades in 1970 and later divorced. She then married James Layton and they had three children. They also later divorced. Marsha worked for Mtn. Bell (now Qwest), beginning as an operator and eventually retiring after 35 years. Marsha was very driven and found many things to be involved in and to learn. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Being an entrepreneur at heart, she was always involved in new business ventures. She obtained many licenses and certifications, including one for insurance and as a Ham radio operator. Emergency preparedness was her passion and a constant pursuit. She organized a singles group and enjoyed hosting activities on a regular basis where she gained many friendships over the years. Her hobbies included riding her motorcycle in her younger years, country dancing, listening to country music, serving others, learning a broad array of skills and organizing community events. She also loved her Chihuahuas. Marsha is survived by her children, Ryan (Kara) Layton, Rhonda (Clinton) Mullins, Erin (Josh) Craft; 17 grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn Simons; sister-in-law, Diane Simons; and brother, Farel Simons. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Grant Simons. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 11 at 11am at the Neeley, Idaho Cemetery.
