Marlow Ray Overdorf passed away at a local care facility in Pocatello, June 6, 2024. On June 16, he would have been 82. He was born to parents Dean (Gardner) and James Overdorf. He grew up in Idaho Falls and later in Chubbuck. He went to Pocatello High School.
We heard of when he worked at a chicken farm in Rockford Idaho. He didn’t much care for cooked chicken when we were growing up because that is all they ate while he worked there. He later went to work at Lamb Weston where he met Dorothy Hofmeister. It was a match made in Heaven. They were married on August 13, 1966.
Dad wasn’t able to help much with the farm in McCammon as he worked different shifts at Simplot for many years. But when he was able to help, we remember fencing and repairing, and putting up buildings with him. He also helped with rodeos, FFA and 4H events. They also had a few collector cars they really enjoyed. Those were good times. After the kids moved out, Mom and Dad sold the farm and moved to Chubbuck.
'He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, his parents, Dean and James Overdorf, sisters Ellen Overdorf and Aleta Fernandez and brother Jerry Overdorf.
He is survived by his children, Melissa (Kelley) McBride, and Tim Overdorf, two granddaughters, Jessica Overdorf and Raegan Overdorf, brother Hal (Debbie) Overdorf, sisters Nancy (Bill) Casey, Ann Sessions, Sue Wood, Emily (Bruce) Dial, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 South Yellowstone, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
