Marlene Bringhurst Long, 92, of Tyhee, Idaho returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday October 14, 2023. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family members at home on the Bringhurst family farm where she had lived most of her life.

Marlene was born on January 25, 1931 in Pocatello, Idaho to Louis Granger Bringhurst and Grace Nanette Wight.

She was raised in Tyhee, Idaho and loved working on the family farm and in the Bringhurst Store.

Marlene attended Tyhee Elementary, Irving Junior High, and Pocatello High School where she graduated in 1949. She loved “Poky” and stayed in touch with her classmates throughout her life.

On October 12, 1951, Marlene married Richard Dean Long for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. They were best friends and loved each other through the joy, grief, health, and sickness of life. Richard doted on Marlene.

Marlene was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church callings including Relief Society teacher, Primary president, and Mutual advisor for the youth. She also served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple with her husband. Marlene was active in book clubs and enjoyed her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, in which she served as its president from 1982 to 1986.

She enjoyed singing, writing poetry, sewing, and growing her own fruits and vegetables to preserve. She loved people. She also loved camping and rafting on the Salmon River with a cherished group of friends.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband Richard D. Long, four children; Nanette (Oscar Delfin), Jeffrey (Doreen), Dwight (Sheri), Nathan (Jill); Grandchildren Audrey Delfin Papel (Kevin), Curtis Delfin (Joytina), Shawn Delfin (Victoria), Brett Long, Jordan and Mariah Long, Adam Long (Lauren), Maddy, Benjamin, and Rachel Long; Great-grandchildren Keoki Delfin and Clark Long.

She was preceded in death by her son Blair R. Long, her parents, brothers Ronald and Gary Bringhurst, sisters Dorothy Anderson, Rodonna Bowman and Yvonne Atamanczyk.
